Clinic for High School Sailors

The Massachusetts Bay League will be holding our annual clinic on Saturday, March 29,
at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. We are happy to have Amanda Callahan as
our instructor and the Vanguard Sailing Center of RI
as our sponsor. This one-day classroom clinic is open to all high school sailors and
coaches in New England.
Our Instructor
Amanda Callahan is the Head Sailing Coach at Roger Williams College and a member of the Silver Panda sailing team.
Last year, the Roger Williams coed team was consistently ranked in the top ten of the Sailing World's college rankings.
Prior to coaching at Roger Williams, she was the assistant coach at Stanford in 2007 and the head coach at Tufts in 2006.
While at Stanford, the team qualified for two of the three Collegiate National Championship events, and two sailors were
named as All-Americans. While at Tufts, the team qualified for all three of the Collegiate National Championship spring
events, finishing second in Team Racing and fourth in the Coed Dinghy fleet racing event.
As a member of the Silver Panda racing team, Amanda has posted impressive
results. Last year, Silver Panda won the ISAF Team Racing World Championship, the Wilson Trophy at the British Open Team
Racing Championship, as well as the US SAILING Team Racing National Championship for the second straight year. Prior to
2007, Silver Panda finished second at the 2006 Wilson Trophy, the 2005 Wilson Trophy, and the 2005 ISAF Team Racing World
Championship. Silver Panda also won the Charles River Open in both 2007 and 2006. This success led to Amanda and her
teammates being named as finalists for the Rolex Yachtswoman and Yachtsman of the Year in 2007.
A 2003 graduate of William Smith College , Amanda is a member of the 2003 Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association’s
All-America Team. She was named captain of the Hobart and William Smith Colleges Varsity Sailing Team 2001-02 and 2002-03.
She is also an alumna of Notre Dame Academy and their sailing team in Hingham .

Directions
Room 54-100
is located on the first floor of the Green Building, the tallest building on the MIT campus. Detailed directions
can be obtained via this
interactive map. Ample parking is available in any MIT lot even though the signs indicate that parking is restricted to MIT permits.
The MIT campus is also easily reached via the T at the
Kendall/MIT stop on the Red Line.
Registration
The cost of the clinic is $10 per person, payable at the clinic.
Lunch of pizza and bottled water will be provided.
